Took off the gauze today, since it was mainly to keep hand clean in case the steri-strips weren't enough to keep it from bleeding. A little bit of blood, but nothing more than any other serious cut I've had. Stitches would probably have been neater and left less of a scar, but meh. It can keep the chemical burn scar company.

This is a shot of the cut taken at the hospital. I had put a gauze pad and some first aid tape as a temporary wrap on before driving myself to the hospital. When I went into triage, they took my thing off and put this on. It wasn't wrapped very tightly, and I had bled through it in the 7/8 hours I was there.

This is under the wrap. They didn't clean off the area in triage, so the blood had dried onto my skin.

Cleaned up. I left the hospital, stopped by CVS to buy stuff, then came home. Poured peroxide on my hand, swore a bit, wiped off the dried blood and foam.

This is actually from this morning. I put Neosporin in the cut, then layered steri-strips onto the cut to try and tug things together a bit more.

Head start on a mummy costume. Because I still wasn't sure if I was going to continue bleeding slowly, and didn't want to risk it opening while I slept, I put gauze back on and rewrapped things. I still had to deal with the cat and whatnot, so I cut the fingers off a latex glove and put it on until I went to bed. Fortunately it only leaked a little bit last night - no more than I'd see during my other bad cuts.
I actually called my mom last night to get her opinion, because she has a pretty strong medical/nursing background. She told me to keep an eye out for it being swollen or oozing pus or any red lines coming from the injury. I'm not seeing any of that, so that's good. There was some concern about tetanus, since I don't remember my last shot (I want to say it was at Hartwick). But it's sore, but seems to be clean, so I think I'm OK. Gonna keep the steri-strips on for a few days, try to keep the area dry, and let Dan worry about the dishes :)
